Spanish II
Instructor: Mr. Lopez   
This course is a continuation of an introduction to the study of the Spanish language and its culture. Students will perform the most basic functions of the language and become familiar with some of the elements of if the Hispanic/Latino culture.  Emphasis is placed on the development of the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing within a given context extending outside of the classroom whenever possible.  A general introduction  to the culture, its products, perspectives, and practices is integrated throughout the course.  The student will acquire insight into how languages and cultures operate by comparing the Spanish language and cultures to his/her own language and culture.

Missing Work
All missing work and quizzes is due this Friday 12/9 by end of day. NO MISSING WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR PREVIOUS OR NEW UNITS THE WEEK OF 12/12-12/16.
End of Chapter 3-MISSING WORK DUE
All Missing Work for chapter 3 is Due by Friday November 18. After Friday Missing Grades will become a permanent 0.
END OF QUARTER
The end of the first quarter is Friday October 21. ALL missing assignments will be due by Wednesday October 19 at 4:00 pm. After that ALL missing assignments will be entered as a 0 and posted for quarter 1 grades.
FORMATIVE QUIZ
Spanish 1 and 2 classes will have a major formative quiz on the block day and Friday next week (10/12-10/14. This quiz will cover the introductory chapter(s) of the text through chapter 2 for both groups. The quiz is open note/book but is completed independently. Please take this opportunity to ORGANIZE the notes and materials we have covered.

Adjustments for some homecoming activities may have to be made.
Concurrent Enrollment
All applications for Concurrent Enrollment are due by Friday September 30 with no exceptions. Concurrent Enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take high school classes for college credit through Aims Community College at no cost. All levels of Spanish are available for 5 credits each giving students the opportunity to receive 20 college credits. Students are required to maintain a minimum grade point average to avoid college fees as well as complete some additional expansion activities. Many other classes are available for college credit as well. Spanish Concurrent Enrollment applications are available in the classroom.
On-line Activities
The textbook website www.glencoe.com no longer needs the pass code to access on-line review activities. Simply choose Colorado and World Languages from the left hand side of the screen and you will have access to the review materials.
Missing Work
As we are in the process of completing chapter one all missing assignments for that chapter are due. Deadline for credit is Tuesday September 27. All assignments labeled MISSING from chapter 1 will go to a 0 and credit will no longer be available.

Signature on Syllabus
All syllabi must be signed by Friday August 19. Failure to turn in a signed syllabus will result in a 5 point deduction from the professionalism grade for every day the syllabus is late.
